ABSTRACTIONS

Grand vistas are a joy to find and take an image of - in fact they are the main  reason I go out with my camera. The reality is however that if I only took grand vistas, photography would get boring - after all you can really only take one version of a vista as everything is in the frame. Intimate landscapes, graphic images and naturally provided abstracts challenge my creativity far more though. They can be hard work, but ultimately they are incredibly rewarding. Not only do I get a greater liklihood of taking an image no-one else has, but even in a small area several compositions can be worked.

Every photograph has optimal lighting conditions. With abstracts and intimates, often grey skies and rain are the photographers friend, popping colours as surfaces get wet and removing glare and intense highlights and shadows through the giant light diffusers that are clouds.
